A+ Program

WHAT IS AN A+ SCHOOL?

Oak Ridge High School has been selected by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an A+ School. The A+ Schools grant provides the opportunity and funding for Oak Ridge to make basic changes designed to guide students in a rigorous program of academics and technical education that will prepare them for the workplace, post-secondary vocation/technical training, or community college education.

GOALS OF AN A+ SCHOOL…

  • To ensure that all students graduate from high school
  • To ensure that all students complete a selection of high school studies that are challenging and have identified learning expectations.
  • To ensure that all students proceed from high school graduation to a college, post-secondary vocational or technical school or high wage job with workplace skill development opportunities.

A+ FINANCIAL INCENTIVES

Upon designation by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Oak Ridge High School students will be eligible for two years of free tuition from any Missouri High School students will be eligible for two years of free tuition from any Missouri public community college, vocation school or technical school. We are pleased to announce that the Oak Ridge R-VI School district achieved designations for the class of 2004, and continues such designation.

Upon being granted A+ Schools status, state funds will be available, and students will be entitled to receive financial reimbursement if they have met the following requirements:

  • Signed an A+ agreement
  • Attended a designated A+ school for three consecutive years
  • Maintained a grade point average of 6.875
  • Maintained a High School attendance record of 95%
  • Provided 50 hours volunteer tutoring or mentoring
  • Maintained a record of good citizenship and avoided the unlawful use of drugs.
  • Enrolled and attend on a full-time basis, a Missouri Public Community College or technical school maintaining a GPA of 6.875
  • Attempted to secure all available federal financial assistance funds that does not require repayment.
  • Registered with Selective Service when appropriate
