Dear Oak Ridge R-VI Schools Foundation Donor,

Since its founding in 1874, the Oak Ridge R-VI School District strives to expand its programs and offerings to the community and the students it serves.  Today, we are asking you to help make a positive change and experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting our school and the community.  Working together, we can build on what is best about Oak Ridge to make it even better.

How do we begin?  We already have.  The Oak Ridge R-VI Schools Foundation, Inc. was created in 1998 with the mission of assisting in the physical and functional development and advancement of public education in the Oak Ridge R-VI School District.  The Foundation provides annual scholarships to graduates, funding for professional development for our teachers, and assists with high needs projects within the District.  In order to meet our mission and provide such services in our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support.  Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we wouldn’t be able to reinvest in and serve those in our community year after year.

The Oak Ridge R-VI School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Corporation designed to assist in the physical and functional development and advancement of public education in the Oak Ridge R-VI School District.  The purpose of this corporation is to solicit, receive, manage and disperse contributions for the benefit of the Oak Ridge R-VI School District, including, without limitation, contributions both cash and in kind, and contributions both for immediate use and for endowment purposes.  

The mission of our organization is "to enrich the quality of education for all students by seeking alternative financial resources and by increasing the level of interest and support of patrons, alumni, and friends of our school district." In order to succeed in this mission, the board is looking for two individuals to join the Board of Directors as well as individuals looking to serve on one of the three subcommittees created to meet our objectives.

1. The Activities Committee:  This committee will help plan several fundraising events throughout the year.  Past events have included the "Denim and Diamonds Dance" and the Pumpkin Run 5k.

2. The Endowment Committee:  The Foundation is dedicated to create an endowment fund for the district where the interest generated can be used for extra staff and student resources.

3. The Mentor/Internship Committee:  This committee will work with the school district to help create relationships with local business leaders and alumni for internships and job shadowing classes at Oak Ridge High School.
 
Contributions made to the Oak Ridge R-VI Foundation are tax-deductible.  

 

Contributions may be made through funeral memorials, bequest of real or personal property, or simply as a donation to the Foundation.  Several scholarships have been developed through contributions to the Foundation.
